Arriving without your own stroller because the National Institute of Ecology offers rentals still leaves the journey from the entrance to Ecorium. Rental strollers are for Ecorium's interior only. With a child who cannot walk far, first choose your gate and how you will reach the building.
Key point
Plan transport to the gate, the outdoor journey to Ecorium, and the indoor visit as separate stages.
What to remember
- Hours are 09:30 to 17:30, with admission until 16:30.
- Ecorium rental strollers are for children no older than 36 months and no heavier than 12 kg, and cannot go outdoors.
- Train passengers can reach the west gate from Janghang Station; driving directions lead to the main gate.
Fees and entry rules
The National Institute of Ecology opens 09:30 to 17:30, with last entry at 16:30. It closes on Mondays, or the next non-holiday weekday if Monday is a public holiday. Admission is KRW 5,000 for ages 19 to 64, KRW 3,000 for ages 13 to 18, and KRW 2,000 for ages 5 to 12. Ages 4 and under and 65 and over enter free with documentation. Admission is paid by card; Medirium and the 4D theater cost extra.
Do not confuse the main and west gates
The address is 1210 Geumgang-ro, Maseo-myeon, Seocheon-gun, Chungcheongnam-do. Official driving directions lead to the main gate. For Janghang Line train arrivals, the west ticket office is listed as within a five-minute walk of Janghang Station. This estimate reaches the ticket office, not Ecorium. From Seocheon Intercity Bus Terminal, official directions suggest city bus 72 or a taxi.
Strollers, infant lounges, and meals
Free rental strollers are available at Ecorium's information desk for children no older than 36 months and no heavier than 12 kg. They are indoor-only and cannot leave Ecorium. Infant lounges are on Ecorium's first floor and the visitor center's Medirium second floor. The restaurant is on Ecorium's second floor; packed lunches may be eaten at Hadaram rest area and Ecorium's rooftop garden.
A rainy-day visit still includes an outdoor journey
Even an indoor-focused visit involves getting from the ticket office to the building. Head to Ecorium, visit the indoor exhibits, then have a meal or rest before returning to the same gate. Bring your own stroller if you need one outdoors. Do not assume rental stock or internal transport will definitely be available.
Decide on the playground after the exhibits
Do not commit to all of Ecorium and the outdoor grounds in advance. When you leave the building, check whether your child can walk more. If they want to watch an animal longer rather than read signs, stay in one area. Onsite, explaining where you will rest now and which gate you will return to is more concrete than saying you can visit again someday.
A particular animal may not be on view
The institute says animals may be moved into private enclosures or viewing may be restricted without advance notice for health and other reasons. Children 6 and under must enter with a guardian, and eating is limited to designated areas.
Worksheet
Notes for inside and outside the Ecorium
After the indoor ecology exhibits, decide on the spot whether to continue outdoors.
- Clothes
- A thin outer layer to remove in a hot, humid room
- Short rest
- A place to sit between the entrance and the Ecorium
- Outdoor choice
- Check your child's feet and the time to head home before deciding to go farther
Notes
- Same-day internal transport routes, eligibility and service, stroller travel times from the gates to Ecorium, and rental stroller availability remain unconfirmed.
- Prepare to make the return trip without internal transport, and choose from the exhibits available that day rather than planning around a particular animal.
