Even on a day devoted to the sea, using the National Maritime Museum's children's space requires separate reservation planning. General admission and Children's Museum reservations are not the same process. Reach the second floor for your booked session, then add the third-floor aquarium according to your child's interest and remaining time.

Key point

Book everyone for the Children's Museum and enter on time; choose only the general-gallery floors that interest your child.

What to remember

  • Children's Museum exhibits mainly target ages 6 to 10; the Island Village Playground is for ages 5 and under.
  • Infants under 36 months also need reservations, and an adult guardian must accompany children.
  • Reservations are automatically canceled if you do not enter within 15 minutes of the session start.

A free museum on Yeongdo

The address is 45 Haeyang-ro 301beon-gil, Yeongdo-gu, Busan. General admission is free; some special exhibitions and the 4D theater cost extra. Listed hours are Tuesday through Friday, 09:00 to 18:00, and weekends and public holidays, 09:00 to 19:00. It closes on Mondays, or the next non-holiday weekday if Monday is a public holiday. Official directions suggest transferring from Metro Line 1 Nampo Station, Exit 6, to bus 17 or 186 and getting off at National Maritime Museum.

Count infants in the Children's Museum booking

The Children's Museum is to the right of the second-floor main entrance. Its hands-on exhibits mainly target ages 6 to 10; the Island Village Playground is for ages 5 and under. An adult guardian is required. Individual online reservations are available from 30 days before the visit through the day itself, including for infants under 36 months. Individual bookings allow up to nine people, including guardians.

Distinguish the 70-minute sessions from the final 60-minute session

Regular sessions run 10:00 to 11:10, 11:30 to 12:40, 13:00 to 14:10, 14:30 to 15:40, and 16:00 to 17:00. Weekends and public holidays from April through September also have a 17:20 to 18:20 session. Reservations cancel automatically after 15 minutes without entry. From 20 minutes before admission, show your reservation QR code at the desk to collect wristbands. Unused places may be booked onsite, but entry without an advance reservation is not guaranteed.

Be on the second floor 20 minutes before your booking

Check your reservation and collect wristbands, then attend one Children's Museum session. Take a short rest before adding one third-floor general exhibition. Starting a third-floor exhibit just before your reservation leaves little time to return and check in. With a young child, choosing the shorter final session is fine, as is skipping other floors afterward.

The aquarium and food facilities are on different floors

The museum lists the Marine Hall, aquarium, and media exhibition room on the third floor, and Navigation Hall on the fourth. Its facilities guide lists a food court and shop at the first-floor circular plaza and a fourth-floor cafe. The second-floor outdoor restaurant is marked as seeking a tenant, so do not plan around it as an operating restaurant.

An aquarium-only day is separate from a children's-space reservation

If the Children's Museum is full, you can switch to marine life and ships in the general galleries. Current animals on display and feeding times remain unconfirmed, so avoid promising a particular animal. Let your child choose between the aquarium exhibits available that day and the ship models. Nursing room locations and stroller rentals also remain unconfirmed. Decide whether to add an outdoor walk after the indoor visit.

Notes

  • Unconfirmed: nursing rooms and stroller rentals, individual aquarium animals on display and feeding schedules, and parking fees.
  • The Children's Museum's main target ages are not entry restrictions for all general exhibitions.
