First decide whether to visit only the general exhibits or add an activity with a fixed start time. A permanent-exhibition ticket does not give unrestricted access to the planetarium. You can still plan a visit around the general exhibits when activity reservations are unavailable.
Key point
Use the permanent exhibits as your main plan. Add just one reserved facility whose entry requirements are confirmed.
What to remember
- Permanent-exhibition admission is 4,000 won for adults, 2,000 won for ages 7 to 19, and free for children under 7.
- General permanent exhibits do not require advance reservations.
- The museum is in front of Exit 6 of Daegongwon Station on Line 4, at 110 Sanghabeol-ro, Gwacheon.
Tickets and arrival time
Permanent-exhibition hours are 09:30 to 17:30, with last admission at 16:30. The museum closes on Mondays, January 1, and Seollal and Chuseok day. When Monday is a public holiday, it closes the following day. Individual admission costs 4,000 won for ages 20 to 64 and 2,000 won for ages 7 to 19. Children under 7 and adults aged 65 and older enter free. General permanent exhibits need no separate advance reservation.
Choose the museum exit at Daegongwon Station
The address is 110 Sanghabeol-ro, Gwacheon, Gyeonggi-do. Official directions place the museum directly in front of Exit 6 of Daegongwon Station on Line 4. Do not confuse this route with a trip to Seoul Grand Park Zoo, which uses the same station. Exploring the park near another exit first adds travel before the museum visit.
For a first visit, start with one interest
If dinosaurs are the main attraction, start with the natural history exhibits. If your child likes moving machines, start with hands-on exhibits. Spend the first 40 to 60 minutes on one subject, take a break, then decide whether to add another. This is not an official visit duration; take a break sooner if your child is tired. If your child wants to repeat one activity, you can drop the second destination.
Official guidance conflicts on young children's planetarium entry
The official mobile price page says both that children under 7 cannot enter the planetarium and that they can enter with a guardian. Entry for children under 7 therefore remains unclear. The observatory's daytime programs are listed for elementary-school children and older, and require online reservations.
Promise a booked activity only after resolving its requirements
Before promising a star show to a child under 7, ask the planetarium about that screening's age and guardian rules. If you cannot confirm them, plan only the general exhibits this time. Just before a reserved activity, head to check-in rather than starting a new exhibit. Whether late entry is allowed must be checked for the specific facility.
Decide about outdoor exhibits after the indoor visit
You do not have to fit indoor exhibits and Seoul Grand Park Zoo into one half-day. Set meal and departure times first. Add a short outdoor stop only if enough time remains after the indoor visit. The current stroller-rental location and restaurant operations are unconfirmed. Bring your own stroller if needed, and plan to eat before or after the visit.
Worksheet
Choose one half-day route
Choose one route where your child can stay comfortably instead of linking every gallery.
- Try it
- One hands-on exhibit and a nearby place to rest
- Look slowly
- One topic to spend time on: dinosaurs, space, or robots
- If you have a reservation
- A nearby exhibit to visit 20 minutes before the start
Notes
- The same official price page gives conflicting rules for planetarium entry under age 7. Plan around the general exhibits until eligibility is clear.
- Unconfirmed: The young children's activity area's current sessions, reservations, and eligibility, plus stroller rental and restaurant operations. The general permanent-exhibition rules do not necessarily apply to these facilities.
